How many seasons does a bat last?
« on: February 26, 2014, 04:20:05 PM »

Hello all,
I was wondering how long does a typical bat last for an average player.I would like also like to know how often do you buy/change bats.I'm sure that it varies a lot depending on what level you play at and how many games you play.Would love to hear from you experts.

Cheers.

on here, 3 games.

in real life 2-3 seasons for an average player, but I think a large number of players like a new bat a year.

Was told when I bought my new bat this year that they last for around 1000 runs, bit ridiculous really because that could be a very long time for me haha.

Isn't that an average that all batmakers say, that the average life span of a bat is 1000 runs?

I am not someone who buys a new bat every year. But someone who does, how will they adjust to the different bats every year? Or would they be going for a similar profile may be from a different bat maker?

Just acquired a 6 year old GM Hero Original off a team mate. Longest I've had one is 18 months before it broke. RIP

Last years match bat scored about 2000 runs and still feels gun. I'm getting another one for this year but I suspect two seasons is about right.

It really depends on the batsmen and his batting position, but I would say one and a half to 3, maybe 4 seasons. For a good and aggressive opening bat, I would say 2 seasons max with netting, and a decent number 5 will probably last around the 3 mark. That's my guess anyways!

Matt from H4L mentioned that one of Brenden Nash's bats has lasted 200 runs and is still going strong.

I think that now the general public have more access to the light weight, low density clefts which bang like the privvy door but last less than a lap of CERN, we will no doubt get through more bats.

Softer pressing and more brands will lead to higher consumption.

The consumer of today is less patient and more interested in consumption than conservation. As such, economic, social, and financial trends have changed the life span of the humble bat.
In those terms, you could argue that the capitalist model has democratized bat ownership bringing the best clefts to the masses.

Mine only last until I drive past romida leatherhead or fordham sports. Then the addiction kicks in and I end up with another bat for the photo album

My current bat has lasted two seasons worth, but that will be it for the old girl. If it was still in good shape then I doubt I'd ever change. Never mind :(
