Sounds like you should have a bit of weight to play with. Thin the toe out a little, maybe drop the spine 5+ mm and then concave. May need a little more to get it down to the desired weight but take a little at a time and see how you get on.

Ezelap diamond stones are good. I think mine are around 400 grit up to 1500 grit and get a nice sharp edge on my draw knife and planer blades

So a bit of an update to this first bat of mine.

I have now finished her off with the Travisher I bought. Bound the handle, gripped, sanded, waxed and polished her. She is 2'10.8 and honestly has a very nice pickup. I am really really pleased with her but I'll let the pictures do the talking;
