Cricket bats and OCD do not go together.

I have seen variations in all brands, it may be old stock re-stickered, a higher model bat graded down to fill an order, an off day with the stickering. Apart from having too many models under their own label I don't think many people realise the amount of bats they turn out for varying brands, I can understand the variances in some instances.

Can you find a manufacturers profile or shape description for this model?

Looks like a retailers vague description, high middle? low middle? etc

Profile: Beautifully balanced low to mid range profile with a big sweet spot, and traditional style spine for all over blade. Explosive ping and enhancing pick up for the ultimate batting experience. Mostly bats comes with full profile with minimum concaving

That is a description of another SS model on cricmarts website, the word Mostly would suggest models vary in consistency.

Take a gamble I guess. I'd be annoyed if I ordered a bat blind and there could be such a variance in what I received. Especially if I hadn't asked for umpteen photos.

The company I bought one of these bats from (which I don't think I'm allowed to mention following previous threads) offers a full returns guarantee, and openly state/advertise this on their website.
So it may be a risk buying blind, but in this case there is a safety net.

Not suggesting it's right, just that I have seen it before.

Just a note though, some people on here are very different to most customers, the majority want a good bat that feels nice in the hands and is good value, they don't care who made it or that 2 bats in the same model bat have a different shape toe. Cricket bats seem to get really over complicated on here.

Looks like a square flat toe to me. No spine in sight.

I think the concern here is that you don't know what you'd be getting when you order SS Master or SS Gladiator or any other model. Ideally a model should have a defined shape/profile so that you know what you're getting.

The toe guard (or lack of) has been pointed out, but the TON stamp on the back of the top one set my OCD off, and if I received one like that it would do my nut in! It just looks wrong with the O not being in the centre of the bat (and made obvious by the spine!)

The duckbill one isn't dead centre but I could live with that because the spine doesn't exaggerate the problem.
That really is frustrating.
Its pretty inexcusable when you have the spine to reference when applying the stamp.
I think my 9 year old could easily perform this task.
I've not examined an ss bat close up but I presume that is a permanent stamp and not a sticker, surely all the more reason to take care when applying.

I agree, SS though don't have the amount of shapes to match the amount of models so I can see how it happens, again not saying it's right.

I think with the higher grade models there is better consistency, but that is why when ordering from abroad you should always asks for photos from several angles, and dimensions so you can get a good idea of the shape etc. Of course you cant actually get it in your hands till it arrives so there is still a risk that it may not feel right, but then you can always put it on ebay   :)

I agree. the expensive ones are very consistent in profile, finish, pickup and ping. Never had a problem.
