During the quiet times of the fire (no machine to make bats) I had a look at putting a B3 twists on some classic retro designs;

What do you think?

Not everyone’s cup of tea I am sure but thought I would share them on here, for the old'ens on here to reminisce and for the young’ens to have a history lesson of bats from the 80’s – or was it the 70’s…..

Look forward to your comments….

Streaky

Love the SP shape. Did you use a genuine SP  as a prototype to copy?

The SP dates from mid / late 70s, 1976 onwards I think. The Jumbo is a little later; I think the first Jumbos came out in 77/78 time. SS and the Jumbo lasted a bit longer. Its last year in the spotlight was probably with Viv Richards in 1983. After that SS seem to turn its attention to the Turbo models.

They look nice, but they need finishing properly!
Will B3 be designing some "retro style" stickers to dress them in??

No not planned

Would've loved to see a Slaz V12 with hump on the back, remember Alan Lamb using it.

Maybe next time.

Anyone got any pics of one?

I think it was @tim2000s posted one he'd bought off eBay "not that long ago" (somewhen in the last 18 months or so!)

If i'm right I will have impressed myself. I can remember things like that but couldn't for the life of me tell you my girlfriends birthday haha

Symonds Tusker would be good..... I'd love to see a bat even closer to the Jumbo or even a Turbo

First came into contact with B3 at Old Trafford at the Cricket Expo... they had some pre-mades and one was a gorgeous retro shape, thinner edges and shoulder, spine right down to the toe, lovely shape, similar in some ways to a Hunts County Clipper. Wish I had bought it now... However, I assume any bat shape can be designed and constructed through CAD technology and with some of us older players always having one eye on the past, maybe a B3 Nostalgia range would have some interest...

I once batted with a Magnum, the chocolate coating soon cracked and then the ice cream fell off the stick.
