If I'm being fair.. The guy didn't deserve more than a year ban based on precident. Aamir 5 years for actually fixing.. 'Only' planning should be the same or less..

Very poor consistency shown. Either punish everyone properly or let everyone off like aamir. Can't mix and match, cheating is cheating
As much as(well a helluva lot if us) don't like it,Pro is right, and that's what I was getting at in my post. comparing 'offences' this latest case is absurd. I hate the cheats just as much as the next person but it's impossible to believe anyone planning to cheat is more guilty than someone who actually cheats.the politics here smacks you in the face..
Mohammed Amir actually got understanding and sympathy from a lot of the U.K. press, is the same going to be done for this guy?
It doesn't look that way, he has four times the ban that the Pakistan players got
Are they making a distinction between spot fixing and match fixing? Looks that way to me,or does it depend which county the player is from?

The Pakistani players and Samuels had careers waiting for them once their bans had been completed.

This guy had retired from cricket and even a 5 year ban would have ended all chances of coming back retirement. Too many Inconsistencies

there is a huge difference between spot fixing, and match fixing. that is why guilty match fixers all got life bans, and why this guy gets 20 years for "attempting" to match fix. its not just about playing cricket - a ban is comprehensive. Salim Malik for example, is still trying to get permission to open a coaching academy.

Yes, cheating is unacceptable, but you can't call spot fixing and match fixing the same crime. That is why I asked, is attempted murder (this guy who just got punished) a lesser crime than shoplifting (spot fixing)?

Don't think it's got anything to do with murder or shoplifting to be honest mate...

20 years is a weird ban, might as well be life, which it should be. Planned or succeeded doesn't make any difference, just means he got caught earlier. Sport is a privilege and a game based on honest competition, if you're not going to sign up to that then you've got no part in it. Should be a life ban, and good riddance.
