Bodi was a guest-pro for my bosses team in a cup semi final. He made 0 runs and bowled 4 overs for 50. Boss reckons the opposition had paid him to basically blob, so it doesn't sound like it's new to him

Sounds like my average Saturday to be fair.

Add Tsolekile to the list

Even in sri lanka there seems to be a match fixing investigation going on. Their bowling coach trying to fix games!

Is anyone genuinely surprised about this? It's sad but I think we have to accept we may not always be seeing the 'true' gam. However, at he end of the day who cares people will enjoy and boast about say (purely an example) a stokes 250 blasting even if it turns out SA were paid to fall apart etc .

Meh, either take all games as fun but could be rigged or just ignore it

from the BBC Sportsday page:

"Cricket South Africa has banned former international Gulam Bodi for 20 years after he admitted charges of contriving or attempting to fix matches in the 2015 RAM SLAM T20."

Good to see south africa taking a stand, everyone has a view of course but its got to be a career ending ban otherwise players will take the risk?
If it was an england player i reckon most fans would want 20 year bans

20 years is a proper ban unlike the one the Pakistani guys got.

from the reports it sounds like no match fixing actually took place

it was just planning to fix....

match fixing (Cronje, Azharuddin, Jadeja, Saleem Malik) vs spot fixing (Samuels, Amir, Butt) vs "providing information" (Warne). Different punishments for different crimes.

yes.....but Amir,Asif and Butt were convicted of spot fixing..cheating the game whichever way the cake is cut, and got 5 years. This guy hasn't actually fixed anything(if the reports are right) and gets 20 years.

Admitedly these things are very difficult to quantify but there does seem lots of grey areas.

If I'm being fair.. The guy didn't deserve more than a year ban based on precident. Aamir 5 years for actually fixing.. 'Only' planning should be the same or less..

Very poor consistency shown. Either punish everyone properly or let everyone off like aamir. Can't mix and match, cheating is cheating

So attempted murder is a lesser crime than shoplifting?
