So after being a lurker on this forum for the last two months, I unfortunately got a very good reason to make my first post and create my first thread.
Bought a new bat, thought that knocking in went well as there weren't any more seam marks left on the face, so bat was waxed and face sheet fitted. Since it's now off season here, it then went in hiding in my cupboard for two weeks... I was sniffing around to play some LMS cricket and a team offered to let me play yesterday and I decided why not use my new bat! Everything was going really well, bat has a sweet middle, then silly me tried to overhit a yorker....
So I've got some photos of the damage, just need some opinions on what the best plan of action is.
Seems like the damage was partly because I really didn't give the toe enough time with the mallet and when we went out to field I realised the 2 piece ball we use is quite a bit harder than the 4 piece I'm used to! The crack is somewhat visible from the bottom of the bat, it's just too much hassle to try and take a photo while pulling the toe guard out of the way.
I was thinking wood glue and clamp a bit of work with sandpaper, wax and then a new scuff sheet and some tape around the toe? What I'm not so sure about is how to go about knocking the toe in more, before the glue session or after?
Opinions and advice will be greatly appreciated!
