Hi
@adb club cricketer . The puma top hat issue ( with evospeed 6000 , or any of the 'stormtrooper' pads ) is a big negative for me . The 2 straps , though , are a major positive .
Yeah I have stuck to morrants since . I love them . I did take a gamble though because I can see them not fitting well on some leg shapes . Personally , I have long , skinny 'chicken legs' and I find that the sides wrap so far around my legs that they don't get in the way . People with really chunky , thick calves may also like them since the sides might not wrap around much at all and therefore not get in the way . If you've used 'ambidextrous' pads before and found the inner sides smash up against each other a lot then you'd probably find the same issue occuring with most ambidextrous pads , including morrants . If you've not had this issue , then morrants might be a goer .
Basically , i don't find them feeling bulky because they are so snug , they wrap around and hug your calves, and the top hat angles in nicely . But they still feel like ambidextrous pads , and some people reckon the top hat angles in too far , and that they are 'chunky' . Ultimately, you need to try on a pair , or do what I did and take a gamble ( keep in mind that morrants should be easy enough to sell on ) .
