No those weren't the single bar helmets.
I am 100% sure and it isn't just one batsman who did it. It was 2/3 people especially in the second practice match against India.

Are you sure they aren't just using the single bar model?
It seems a bit silly they'd cut a bar off when you can simply get a helmet without it in the first place :-[

Just check Mushfiqur Rahim's recent ESPNCricinfo pics carefuly. Also, i am quite sure that during their innings I noticed more than one batter had those removed bars from the vision series.

This modification would contravene any Certification and given its in an ICC regulated tournament if umpires noticed they'd have to change it.,

What about the adjustable lid the keeper is wearing? Sure that would have to change also

Don't the rules say only helmets provided to players by their employer need to meet the latest Standard? I.e. A player may buy and use what they wish

From my understanding the players have to choose/use a helmet on the ICC list of approved helmets for use in tournaments under their jurisdiction.

I have had to submit images to the ICC of all the helmets we have certified to the latest safety standard for ease of reference for the umpires etc.

Technically, it's an approved helmet... I bet they didn't write something in the rules saying "That isn't modified by the player". ;)

Pretty clear in the lid too... (although I would argue the change in grille on my lid hasn't impacted negatively the safety of it)

The protruding wire ends would immediately raise alarm bells with any Test house as if that twists and catches the players face its going to cause some hefty damage.

It is not just one player in their team that has done it. I think I saw at least 2/3 more in their team with removed bats from their helmets.

Bit stupid on their behalf then as  its compromised the safety the helmet provides if they get hit.
