I did my ring finger last year. Best thing I found was firstly some padded tape, not a lot, just one wrap around the swollen area. Then strips along the length of your finger from the middle of the back of the finger, over the nail and stopping at the bottom of the front (palm side) of the finger. Keep your finger slightly bent and the tape stretched. Do this three times at slightly different angles then wrap some more tape from bottom to top (perpendicular to the strips).
There shouldn't be too much tape so you can still get it in the gloves and it should stop you bending it backwards again. I tried not to have it too tight but tight enough to feel supportive.
