Bats that feel lighter than scale weight = heavy handle?

Dont think we can generalize like that. Had a TON bat with very thin handle that broke. Got it replaced with a thick handle and the pickup became worse. So I guess it depends on a lot of factors and not just the handle/weight at the top..

@edge does it have an A stamp on the shoulder?

Just done a refurb on a mates Aussie Kook. 40mm edge, 62mm spine with new stickers scuff and grip it's at 2.6lbs 😱.

Nope, stamped E. Who knows what that means mind.

I think the E stamp is for English market, A for Australia.

I got an Aldred back end of last year - was adamant i wanted it as light as possible around 2.8 to match my old bat. Got it home picked it up and it felt spot on. Put it on the scales and its 2.12 but just picks up so well - probably better than any bat i've owned.

Paul knows what he's doing, but 4 ounces off your specified weight is a lot to me.

Unless it gained a fishtank-full of moisture during transit!

That's ridiculous- but I'm glad you are happy with it.

I ordered a custom Newbery Mjolnir SPS back in the day at 2lb 7ozs, and it came through at 2lb 12, and with a massive lump across the blade. Needless to say it went back...
The replacement was 2lb 10oz, but it was better than the last one, so I stuck with it.

actually i might be doing him a disservice by saying 2.8 - in fact i think most of the bats have ranged from 2.9 upwards but still i was surprised at the weight of it - but it picks up so much better than any other bat i've ever used and it is heavier than all of my other ones - i had a gray nicolls dynadrive and it picked up far heavier than the aldred and thats why i wanted a new one - it just felt way too heavy for me!
