Thanks a lot for the great advice...Sorry for not replying individually to all the great comments. My situation is that I only get to play around 8 - 10 games in a year and so there is not much match practice and hence I have to rely on nets. Here are a few things that I am going to try:

1. Net with different players so that I can face as much bowling variety as possible.
2. Try out the "defensive net" technique suggested by @InternalTraining
3. @prim0pyr0 comments hit especially close to home. I am going to see how to work out the "per ball process"

Thanks once again...it really feels great to be able to throw this out and get feedback since I don't have any option for that within my team.

Where do you play? Have you thought about joining a club that play more games or more convenient games?

If you can't get match practice, getting throwdowns to work on specific shots are more useful than mindless nets.
