Never seen a handle being planed before apart from in both GM film's. I think they are trying to show that they go further in quality but I bet if their jigs are set up as well as they should they don't ever have to do this. Also agree with the handle being shaved first, odd choice. But they do make a decent bat, they'd be my choice of shop bat after Newbery.

Yeh I can see why their bats are more expensive than other companies if they are making them on the CNC here in the UK. The overheads and staff costs for all involved in the process soon add up and need covering in the cost of the goods going out the door.

CNC must have cost £500,000 at least i would think!

Quality set of films, I really like their approach to batmaking in getting each one as consistent as possible in finishing the product and preparing it. The CNC machine, although it looks like it butchers the bats, really makes the difference in the sheer volumes of bats made. 3500 bats at a time in the kiln, sheer volumes and I loved the way Graeme Swann acted.

Some people will like the CNC approach others wont...psersonally anything made of wood i would like to have hand crafted by someone as it's a natural material that can be shaped in this way with each one being slightly different to the next one off the workbench....but then thats just me as wood is one of the few materials you can do this with (other than plastercine;)

i have used both newberry and gm and whilst impressed a little with newberry i would not get another gm for the money i paid for a purist i could have got a much better bat from elswere.

in my opinion and it is my opinion i would rather now go to a specilist bat maker than using big brands form the uk i have used a Laver now for 3 seasons with other bats from indenpendant sources and have found a difference in terms of pefromance which i have not found in big brand bats.

it might be a one off yes but i will only go for bats which i know will perfom or i get my money back(easy said than done)

marty graham might be my next port of call in the cricket bat world for my bat or maybe somebody off here.

i just feel with the big company's if your not getting it off somebody in the know than your gambling but with custom bat makers you seem to get that little bit more chance of getting a gun bat.

my opinion only
