Vikram is using a retro looking Fearnley this season.

His gloves have a pleasingly simple design as well

Good ol' Alec...

this was the earliest one I could find...

The gloves Alec Stewart is using these pics actually have a hard plastic shell over the bottom two fingers of the bottom hand. This was an accessory sold separately, and basically taped to the glove.

I know -but we were looking for early examples of extra protection on gloves - actually the DF ones on Goochie from around 1980 were the earliest pics I could find on cricinfo!

About time. DF did lose the plot somewhat.

Bat shape is not radical, unless you are so young as not to know about the Excalibur, or Multi Balance or Hi Tech or Uzi, shall I go on? Yes I shall, Newbery have been behind nearly every change to a cricket bat for the last 30 years, excluding Graphite backing. The spiceless bat, the first non cane handle, the first shortened blade/elongated handle and when you know their history you wouldn't bet against them having something else radical that they won't be sharing with any old brand.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I think GM, with their Galaxy model, were before Newbery with a spliceless bat and non cane handle.

Agreed, it would be awesome if they could bring out a retro range - especially as the main people who would buy the bats are in their 30/40's now so have more disposable income whilst still looking to relive their youthful memories of Ian Terence Botham smashing the ball into the confectionery stand and hooking Lillee with his eyes closed... marvellous

I'd love to have a 70s retro kit of GN Scoop, Morrant Pads and SP Master (flatback) gloves, and maybe even an original SP batting helmet.

I might be able to get a original set of SP stickers for you and a bat made to shape by the original maker, got some nice Scoops but not for sharing and also picked up a set of Sondico gloves.

I managed to buy a brand new scoop 3 or 4 years ago, when they were being sold through the Lords shop

I do, and I'm aware that I need to avoid taking advantage but it is sorely tempting.

Sadly they are not the same, but will sort a set of ST Peter stickers for you.
