Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazlewood

If these 3 can stay fit, within 2-3 years Australia could have a very potent young seam attack. Currently all 3 are returning from injuries, Hazlewood (back), Pattinson (back) and Starc (side strain).

anyone would be a class batsman if they sorted their technique out to that extent

hughes had some success at state level through being unorthodox and everyone loves the way he plays because its a little different, however, sad truth is, put him in a test match against a decent attack and he comes undone time after time

No other option really apart from Clarke having been VC since 08, any other move from the selectors would have showed a serious lack of confidence in him. His batting slump wont help him at all as that was what seemed to be bothering Ponting.
Im looking forward to seeing Khawaja bat.Would have been a good time to let White in the door and incredibly Hauritz is still missing? Ponting is still a great player and class is permanent, hope to see him back in the World Cup in good nick.

Sadly I think his time is up. After the series has finished, the selectors wont have to pick a test side until August. By that time I think other people will be banging on the door for selection and he wont fit in. Afterall he is 36 at the moment and the aussie selection panel will probably start looking at younger guys and plan for the future.
There is talk that he is aiming to get in the world cup squad but again I dont think they will select him due to age and what with his form being so poor...

Regarding captaincy they had to pick Clarke really seeing as he has been vice since 2008. I think Hussey or Haddin would have been better options with their form and what not but again age isnt in their side either so would prefer someone younger.
