Hiya,

What are the benefits of Anti Scuff and Fiberglass tape? Never used them before so pardon my ignorance.

To my knowledge, quote me if i am wrong,
Scuff sheets provide extra protection to the bat face and the bat face will not require oiling if a scuff sheet is placed on. ( although they are supposed to be changed every season or so )

Fibreglass tape - Normally used to repair bats they have cracks or dents etc. Can also be used to strengthen the edges

Hi - there is no shame in not knowing, this is a forum for the sharing of information.

an antiscuff sheet will seal in the moisture in the willow which will protect the longevity of the bat as well as protect the bat from a certain amount of "bruising" of the face. It might, very marginally, take away a little of the performance, but - like a toe guard - the upside massively outways the downside.

I am not really sure about the benefits of Fiberglas tape - it might superficially protect a crack in the bat, but it won't make a massive difference, I don't think - happy to be told I am wrong on this!!

So do i just buy a anti scuff sheet and stick it on the big dog (Simon Doull's quote)

Yes - but get a good quality one - like the Romida version or the Newbery Hammer edge one (Talisman usually has some of these)

Superficial or surface cracks fibreglass tape does help but on larger cracks it only gives some short term life to the bat. But as prevention it is very effective.

when cracks appear i lift them and glue them.

I find no real need for fiberglass tape unless your into edging (pre protection of the edges).

but each to there own i agree with buzz the true chopper sheets are hard to beat but beware there plenty of imitations.
