Somewhere around 2.8/2.9 finished (handle bound) without grip, toe guard.

it does indeed look laver-y profile-wise. When I made a bat, I just used bog-standard string to bind the handle. After plastering a load of pva on after binding, it worked a treat.

Link to travisher for sale:

He also has no. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 blades for sale

You would have to make the body for the travisher yourself with those. Gm tools are the best for getting them. About 40 quid all in I think

Thanks for the heads up. I had been directed to the GandM ones before but didn't really want to spend £40 on one at the time. I had been looking for a Snell & Atherton No.4 as that had been recommended in another thread, but no no.4's have come up in the past 6 weeks. I had also looked at the travisher irons on eBay as well.

Just a matter of weighing up which one to go for now. My step-dad in law is quite handy on the woodwork front - he does a lot of woodturning and makes some of his own tools so I may see if he can make a travisher body for me as it would turn out cheaper than the GandM. If not i'll order one from them.
