Linen twine & first attempt pic
« on: November 05, 2011, 03:35:20 PM »

I am trying to find some linen twine to bind the handles of a couple of bats I am making. I have tried eBay and searched the internet for a supplier but can't find anything.

Does anyone know where I would be likely to find some or know of a supplier that I can get some from?

Thanks.

I'm 3/4 of the way through one and have yet to start the 2nd. Hope to have the first one finished at some point next weekend and will get some pics up then.

Bear in mind it's my first attempt........ currently 2.11. Needs a bit more work on the profile - no concaving (still need to get a travisher!)

I had a profile in mind - but this wasn't it  :-[ . The toe ended up thinner than I would have liked and it evolved into the shape you see as I tried to get the weight down. I have some more work to do to the profile so the end result will be a bit different from what it looks like now.

it does indeed look laver-y profile-wise. When I made a bat, I just used bog-standard string to bind the handle. After plastering a load of pva on after binding, it worked a treat.
