2013 Boom Boom Pads
« on: March 28, 2013, 03:40:18 PM »

As worn by Hafeez- I realise SS make Boom Boom softs but I can’t seem to find them anywhere? I was initially thinking they’re just SS and he’s had Boom Boom logos stitched in place of where the "SS" is...?

Yes, they are just SS pads with Boom Boom logo stitched. Same is the case with Nasir Jamshed but CA. I remember Misbah used to have GM with CA logos.

I know that many of the players who are sponsored by CA / Ihsan have just stitched the logos in the front as when you get a glimps of the tophat padding it clearly shows SS designs.

But hafeez seems to have gone to great lengths and I've seen Afridis pads look similar.

If you look at the inside of hafeez's pads you can see boom boom designs. Also the pics from the trade show, show the gloves. All of these are essentially SS made/ designed but couldn't understand why these aren't available to buy with Boom Boom branding?

Would guess the players didn't like or want to wear the BoomBoom stock ranges - so requested these be made up. Boom Boom direct may have a spare set or 2, but won't be in retail.

Could be; from what I have heard Boom Boom allows the player to buy whatever kit he wants and wishes to use. Later he is reimbursed by Boom Boom.

All that makes sense but what I don't get is why then do the manufactures change their designs to boot?!

Because you have a brand voice, and you try and produce your products to suit that. Rather than the odd fussy primadonna pro.

I posted that in haste - what I meant was I have not seen many Boom Boom sponsored players use their softs.

I completely understand the need to differentiate the brand from others but most cater for different needs with varying styles. Boom Boom, a little like Puma, seem to make the same pads with different colouring and very subtle differences.

Yeah… errmm, a lot of pros do that…
