Kit sponsorship and ideas
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:53:40 PM »

Looking into 2015 my club are looking at getting all new club shirts and training gear. The problem we have had over the past few years is covering/ partially covering the cost. How do other clubs go about getting their sponsors to fund their part of the deal ? As a lot of clothing manufacturers set up online stores for the club, would the sponsor donate a certain amount to cover embroidery and printing per shirt bought or would it be better to do a bulk order of shirts and get a contribution to this ?

Hope this makes sense, if not I'll try re wording in the morning  :-[

When we originally got our current sponsor. The first year you got 20% towards the cost of your item with his logo on. So shirt jumper and jacket.

But this was just complicated and a pain to sort.

Now. He gives a 1000 pound towards junior training kit. And we just buy our own shirts.

As we have had the same sponsor for 5 years. Generally all players are now in a shirt with there logo on. But I'd say 80% are in the current shirt.

There are quite a few options you can weigh up....
First find a sponsors that will donate enough for you to pay for the kit giving them the main sponsor on the front of your shirts. Or use that sponsorship money to reduce the costs that you have to pay and make a bundle of kit. This will allow you to get more kit for your money when purchasing. Professionalism is huge in my opinion and looking the part as a club. There is nothing worse than having people in the same side as you wearing different tops or old ones. This is from past experiences.

Another way that i have heard is to find your own sponsors, like a family member or company to donate £50 or something in that region to you and you use that cover the costs of your kit, then the money from your main sponsor can go in the club funds and help pay for worthwhile things at the club like maintenance, facilities etc.

If you want anymore ideas feel free to ask as i run the sponsorship and fundraising at my club.
