I'm looking to recruit players for the 2015 season.

Do clubs out there hold recruitment days? Or is it just winter nets? I want to find a good way to entice players in the local area to consider joining busy holding an event.

If you've got the facilities, a six-a-side comp could bring some people in who wouldn't usually? Have a bar and a big bbq after/during. Also a good way to raise some coin!

A six aside tournament is very good and invite all the players you look to approach? Although it would be far to close to the season. We are looking to get them involved in our indoor league cricket starting next month. Hopefully they will get an idea of the club members and what role we look to offer them.

We have this problem. We are stuck in the middle of some big clubs with a lot of county coaches;

Reading
Finchampstead
Wokingham

All the kids are snapped up by them and most of their brothers, dads etc go the same way as its convenient.

We need to recruit heavily for next season as the step up will be decent but strength in depth is what we need. ESP as our 2s were relegated.

We have tried everything but when you mention recruitment of good players, they reply 'how much?'.

Very difficult situation. For some it is less about standard of cricket and more about money and fashion.

I think is becoming more the case these days.

As a club we are going through a period where lots of players have left us 4/5 years ago and we got relegated 3 years ago. Once the players had left we were left with a side that was far to young to compete at the top level in our county. The same lads stuck together and with getting old, stronger and more experienced we have got back to the prem but are a pretty average side within the league now.

We don't really want to have to pay loads of players to bring them over to us instead of them moving to the big clubs that always do well close by. You have to think...what can you offer them that they wont necessarily get at the other clubs. You have to look at players that you think are of a good quality at the same standard that might not be in favour at their clubs, but they can go one better at yours, for example open up the batting or bowling. Or at least get more of an opportunity for you.
