1-2-1 Batting Coaching at Serious Cricket, Basingstoke
« on: June 05, 2015, 02:54:03 PM »

After a disappointing season so far for many reasons, I'm looking to get some of the above for the first time ever just so I can see what I already do well and how to confidently hit over the top and look for quick singles.

Having played my first proper league game of the season last week I got bogged down with good bowling and a keeper stood up both to quicks and slows. I know I should have done something to upset the bowlers rhythm but I came in at 5 after a quick collapse of 3 wickets and needed to stabilise first. This I did but like I said with not much happening at the other end so I ended up hanging around too long before trying to push the run rate and hitting a well timed drive to mid-off, which was taken well.

Does anyone know Serious Cricket and/or Richard Hindley, their Head Coach?

I'm looking to book 2-3 sessions when I get back to the UK, so would you recommend an hourly session over 3 days or 2 + 1 on different days? I'm only back for 2 weeks and it's an 1.5 hours each way. I live in Poole, Dorset so think Serious Cricket in Basingstoke is the closest place for me to get coaching.

Appreciate any advice or comments.

I played against him years ago. He was decent.

I'm looking to do the same but in Kent however finding a coach in Kent seems pretty difficult

He has played for Havant in the Southern leagues for many , many years.

A good enough player to have been with Hampshire and played for them a few times in the mid 2000,s. off spin bowler and good bat.

A very nice fella who knows his stuff, coached my son when he was u9, u11 etc.

His father Bill was a cracking old chap, played well into his late 70's and perhaps even 80's and captained Havant 4ths as recent as 2008. I think he passed away recently which is a real shame.

Serious cricket are right next to Chase Cricket workshops at the Dummer Cricket centre. Enjoy.

Have netted at Serious Basingstoke a number of times. Love the set-up and like the people there.

If it's the guy I think it is, he's quite approachable and really friendly.

Thank you all... Apart from the hassle of taking my cricket gear back to the UK with me.. I'll certainly book a session on the back of your advice.

I think I'll do a 2 hour session and then see how I feel about booking any additional time on a different day...
