All I care about is pickup, feel and balance. If this is good then I smack almost any ball. Never really worry much about ping. So long as the bat feels good in hands, you play your strokes effectively, IMO.

I played with very high end, and very expensive bats, but a Kashmir willow $20 Al-cheapo bat made by DSC (Master 2000), burrowed from an opposition team member, was the best thing I ever picked up in cricket bats. Hit fluent sixes by flicks off the middle stump - something I wasn't confident to try with a $500 bat.
