For me its having the trust and confidence in the bat to actually not even worry about how the ball is going to come off it. If I commit to a shot I want to have the sound knowledge that if I perform the stroke correctly I will get my anticipated results. For example if I want to hit over cover, my focus should be on head/foot postion, weight transfer and getting my hands correctly through the ball. How the bat performs should be way down on priorities, because if im anxious how the ball will ping off it then issues such as trying to over-hit or even decelerating through the ball (due to nerves) will occur. A bat that performs well will takes these cares away, you know yourself which shots succeed so can play them with confidence over and over and get the value for your strokeplay
