I acquired a couple of repaired bats at the end of the season.
Both had cracks in the shoulder, one repaired with glue & dowels, the other glue and twine.
Both from Hunts County clefts & shaped by well known bat makers - I debated how to sticker them after I had cleaned them up up on another thread but decided that old school County (customised a little) seemed closest to their provenance.
So here they are....
The first is short blade longer handle at 2.9
The other is standard SH at 2.11
Both pick up well as u would expect well made bats to, I’ve had to put thicker grip on heavier bat to aid the feel (for me)
I think they are good looking and after a net at the weekend both really do go very well out of the middle.
I was surprised that the short blade felt so good - it’s the first time I’ve used one but I think it’s going to be in the match bag for 2018
The heavier one will need a bit more time in the nets - as I’ve got older I need my bats lighter I think
How long will they last?
That’s part of the fun, the repairs look really professional and both played really well in the 20 minutes or so I’ve used them.
Always a gamble to buy a repaired bat but it’s been good fun pottering on them
