Two Hunts County Clefts
« on: January 19, 2018, 07:28:56 PM »

I acquired a couple of repaired bats at the end of the season.
Both had cracks in the shoulder, one repaired with glue & dowels, the other glue and twine.
Both from Hunts County clefts & shaped by well known bat makers - I debated how to sticker them after I had cleaned them up up on another thread but decided that old school County (customised a little) seemed closest to their provenance.

So here they are....

The first is short blade longer handle at 2.9
The other is standard SH at 2.11

Both pick up well as u would expect well made bats to, I’ve had to put thicker grip on heavier bat to aid the feel (for me)
I think they are good looking and after a net at the weekend both really do go very well out of the middle.
I was surprised that the short blade felt so good - it’s the first time I’ve used one but I think it’s going to be in the match bag for 2018
The heavier one will need a bit more time in the nets - as I’ve got older I need my bats lighter I think
How long will they last?
That’s part of the fun, the repairs look really professional and both played really well in the 20 minutes or so I’ve used them.
Always a gamble to buy a repaired bat but it’s been good fun pottering on them

Just realised that one of the photos gave the impression there was MASSIVE size difference. This one is a bit clearer

Love the retro county stickers. I think Hunts County would do well to look back at this style of branding.

It's unclear. Did you refurb them or did you buy them in this state?
I know you like your county bats.

They had been repaired already. But needed a tidy up.
One had clearly been used, broken, returned and repaired.
The other was harder to tell but assumed came back under warranty and repaired.
I was merely sticker/scuff/Grip remover, sander and sticker/scuff/Grip replacer - I’m not gifted enough to do the repairs alas.

I was surprised with the initial size difference in the pics at first. Always been a fan of the minimum branding that hunts have available, like your style

I am also looking for a set of Hunts county stickers for my Custom Hunts bat. Are they available from Hunts?

I just phoned the number on their website and explained what I wanted them for and they arrived next day.

They look cracking, you’ve done a good job of the clean up! I agre with the other comments that the retro hunts stickers are far better than some of the modern ones!
