You turn up before the game? That might be where I'm going wrong! There's usually 2/3 overs on the board as I arrive, always guarantees the changing room is nice and empty with plenty of space to get ready in!

I only turn up then because I get a lift to the game (my car is usually left at the ground from the piss up the night before), long walk if I turn that down...

Definitely the pinger!! Unless it doesn't feel good. I think one of the key things while batting is confidence and if a bat can get you a 4 when you hit a shot for 2 it can make a great difference.

Beans and chickpeas? Must be an American thing...
We tend to finish last night's drunkenly purchased donner kebab when we wake up, then turn up 5 minutes before the start, hurriedly trying to get our whites on over here...  :D

Just in case you tried the genuine Turkish version (quite possible in Germany?)... that is very much not what a doner kebab is like in the UK!

The ones we get in the UK are definitely not something you'd purchase when sober!

You need to be using a bat that is the right weight for you and allows you to play all strokes, vertical and horizontal bat, without any hinderance. I'd never use a bat that is too heavy or doesn't pick up nicely in the hands no matter how well it performs. I assume you bought these online? If so that is the folly of not buying from a cricket shop and picking them up in person to feel the weight/balance but also to knock them up with a mallet or some balls to test the performance. I bought my #1 bat from Meulemans and it is so good I didn't want to use it in the nets and just save it for games, so I went back and bought a 2nd that wasn't as high quality of willow (still a cracking bat!) but felt pretty much the same. I use this for nets and one-dayers. If I were you I'd sell those bats and buy one that is right for you...

My gf is Turkish, apparently when she first moved here she got excited that they were commonly available and jumped straight into one after a night out. She's still pissed off about it now haha.

What's the difference - what's a true Turkish doner like?

I will go for bat with best ping most of the time unless facing a real quick bowler.

One is light, full profile and really big for its weight ...but isn't the greatest pinger

The other is a bit heavier ( 1oz) not as full and pick up not as good  ... but it has unbelievable ping, off scale...

Which would you choose ? ( both respected brands )

Very easy one this - you buy one or maybe two or three additional bats to give you more choice.
