I've normally gone for cheap and nasty in the past but bought the bargain newbery softs off ebay! Will have to make my decision when I've received them!

I'd go top of the range if you can keep your gloves in good nick. I used to get gloves every season and now i realise that wearing inners actually does help.

Indeed, after trying mine on I don't think I could go back to a pair without pittards, they're just so comfortable to wear.

what features do u look for as your first priority? Price or comfort?

i made this topic not really bearing price in mind - not to do with money at all.

just wondering what people think about the point i raised earlier, i.e. the low end gloves seem to be more light and flexible but with less protection - would you rather that or have the 'test match protection' possibly at the expense of a little comfort/freedom

I think there is 3 rough groups, i agree the low end one are usually pretty flexible and light due to less padding, i then think there is a group in the middle where padding is added without much though making them heavier and less flexible, however i then think there is a top band, the "test match protection" where they have been designed well so that a large amount of padding is still light (in most cases) and very flexible like the low end ones, like the newbery's people have bought on here. Whether you feel its worth spending that much more for it is up to us individually, but i know the people's who have just bought the newbery's off ebay wont go cheap and nasty again!

I have modern well padded gloves, but they are also very comfortable,

Past two sets of gloves have been,
Redback & M&H Both very comfy and great protection.

which models and who came out best and why

I agree low end gloves are light and comfortable but they are less protective. I once had GN Powerbow 3* and got hit by a 75 mph and seriously it had hurt when it struck me.

There are some top end gloves which are light. I believe the split gloves are usually light with test level protection. I have Ihsan Inferno 950 and they are very light and are comfortable as well
