if people are really that bothered about looking like the pros, why dint they simply de-brand the pads themselves its not that difficult.

Tugga if you want to de-brand the pads, then its easy enough for yourself especially with kookaburra pads. logos come off dead easily and simply a case of taking a pair of scissors to the labels on the straps. I've done it to my kookaburra pads and they look exactly like pro issue. just takes some patience

I think protection wise pro pads and off shelfs pads are exactly the same. The only difference is as many said logo are removed/modified. As per MCC laws you can only have 2 logos on the pads (if I remember correctly).

Sometime player tape up there gloves for example to make them a bit more protective.

I seriously doubt that. I mean if you look at Sachin, he is one of the greatest player in cricket history and he yet adds extra padding himself. I am sure Morrant could do this themselves without making pads too heavy..

To be fair to morrant there pads now  have more padding than Sachin's as his are old ones as still have buckles..

Bet there are a few on here who can't remember buckle pads(showing my age)

Buckles are something which Sachin prefers and does it himself.

Well there ya go Sachin wears Morrant pads  and modifies the Padding and The straps and Lables them as adidas I am so unobservant!

Lot of work though you'd think he'd have enough sway with adidas to say make me these please??

Adidas would have to buy Morants for that to happen as they own the IP on the pads.
Plus if he likes what he has, why change it? he has used the same bat for the last few years (!) the same pads for most of his career and the same style of gloves basically his whole career. If you like what you have, why change it?

Top 9" can be branded and half of the back can be logo'd up.

when you say half the back of the bat is that done on % surface area covered?

My friends looked into this when he was designing some for gcse product design a few years back, he said the stickers on the back of my Bradbury were illegal as they went nearly the whole way down the back.

The adidas incurza bats up to last year must have been close to the limit?

Herath the Sri Lankan was offered shop pads he wanted lighter pads and asked for some of the padding to be removed

I didn't mean literally!! Lol was kinda getting at that seeing as sachin is such a big money spinner for adidas that he might be able to get them to make him up a set of pads to a very exacting spec. But I do see your point buzz why fix it if it ain't broke eh?

Oh to have the pick of the worlds kit....

The captain of our midweek t20 side uses the same lightweight morrants and gotta say I've allways liked the look of em and he liked them so much he bought a couple of pairs.

Look ok to me quality wise

if you see carefully, Sachin adds the extra padding only to the front pad. The back leg padding is the standard that comes on the Morrants.

I think during one of the ODIs between IND and NZ, Vijay Murali was asked to cover up all the Morrant logos on his pads as Morrant are not registered with the ICC as cricket equipment supplier. Strange I think after all the hype and excellent product.
