If you look at Bresnan he has tight strapping right beneath each knee and I was wondering what this actually does? I've noticed a fair few cricketers with this strapping and as I have knee troubles myself I was wondering if it would help?

Strapping there is usually to support the kneecap because of a patellar tendon issue.

I always thought it was there to support the Patella under the strain and force in which there knees go under when bowling

1 point to clarkie, helps to stabilise the knee cap.....having had two patellar tendon ops i can draw from the knowledge of the physio puttin me through pain lo

I had really bad Osgood Schlatter when I was younger, and wore a velcro band that applied pressure to just under the knee cap, works an absolute charm

I had osgood schlatters quite badly as well. I have to use a 'jumpers knee' band now as I get patella tendonitis in my right knee. It does make a difference.

I'm really struggling with knee pain at the moment, been diagnosed with knee bursa, basically to much fluid on my knee. The more I bend my knee and the more I use my knee the more it hurts, pain killers are not touching it! Having physio on it but it's not really helping, next step could be removing the fluid sack.

Can see this becoming a problem for the season

Been like this since last April time, I didnt wanna go the Drs cos I knew they would say rest and I wanted to play the season. Went in October and after much time wasted not doing alot I have been having physio since Jan but with no success (Im getting more impatient).

JNC - what was the outcome with yours mate? This is really bugging me - even more so when all the Dr and Physio keep saying is to rest it er thanks for that, bit easier said than done!

I'll be honest mate, I had loads of physio after dislocating my knee and it just sort of...went. The OS is something teens seem to get, essentially growing pains. I'm 25 now, so I am talking abuot 8 years ago when I suffered from it. Because of the dislocation my knees are always causing problems now, slips out now and again because the joint has weakened. Worst pain I have ever been through!

Draining is an option I believe, like you say. How old are you mate?

I'm 26, did suffer from OS as a teen. Kinda reluctant for the fluid drain or for corts injections as I kinda think they are alleviating the problem rather than actually dealing with it
