Question for GM
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:04:42 AM »

Hi Edward,

I was just wondering why GM don't appear to be acting to stop the sale of fake stickers on ebay. Each year there are more and more being sold along with other brands and only GN seem to take this seriously and as part of the ebay Vero program get them pulled. I'm sure that the sale of fakes must in some way damage not only sales but also brand image, it is something you are aware of and/or planning to deal with?

I saw that the fake GM that everyone was talking about has been removed from ebaym, dont know whether that was from people asking questions or a GM thing

GM will defend its intellectual property ruthlessly. And we do.

However, from time to time, outbreaks seem to occur like forest fires. We are on the case.

Kind regards

Edward

I'm glad to hear it, I've had a few friends buy "bargains" on ebay only to wonder if the the bat was real, which it wasn't, and I have come across 2 GM "Originally" LE bats in my own club last season.

Well done guys for highlighting it to Ed and E bay should crack down on the rubish on their web site as if friends ask me if they should buy a bat of e bay i say buyer beware as 90% of it is probably fake. And if you look on this forum you get some great deals far better than e bay. and "Originally" thats a good one lol. As surely if e bay becomes a market of cheap or poor imitations of quality goods genuine sellers or purchasers will stop using it.

They aren't even doing that good a job of copying the stickers, I mean, those 'Icon' ones have got the rear graphic of the Flare.

Another fake? doesn't look real to me, maybe the plastic wrap I failed to spot being applied in the factory?

I'm highlighting a fake bat on eBay to prevent it being sold unknowingly to a forum member. It should also go on the huge eBay tat thread.

Should we have an 'eBay don'ts' thread or something similar as the eBay tat thread just highlights the poor products sold on there.
