yes your top hand is your leading hand

i will do a you tube video of the coffin and stopwatch drill

if you watch most first class keepers and good keepers look and there hands and heads there always close together

there too much coaching involving people chalking were your feet should go and so on i think the ideal of the best keepers is it natural to them hence why repetition is key

And if it working for you like batting if it unorthodox then stick with it if it working for you

Guys firstly as a keeper whats your Job? Catch the Ball!
As long as you catch the ball it doesn't matter what your doing as long as you keep catching it, a few things will make it easier tho,

Relax - Relaxed legs will move quicker and more naturally fluid than tense stiff legs helping you cover more ground also relaxed shoulders arms wrists and hands will help you cushion and give with the ball more easily

Head still - Try taking a photograph or video recording of a cricket ball whilst your camera is moving, the quality of picture is always better when you keep the camera still - as a keeper your eyes are your camera - keep them still and level as long as you can

A better way of doing things might be for people to suggest what they struggle with and i or one of the other guys can see what we can do to help you? Fire away

Great tip, tie a short length of fishing line to the base of Off Stump and make a loop in the loose end. When standing up place a spike in the loop and when one goes close to the Off Stump pull the foot back and don't catch the ball, everyone will think it clipped Off Stump and you will have engineered a wicket for your team.

Our keeper in a colts game slyly flicked the bail off and got their best batsman out, was absolutely priceless! :D - Doubt I could be so resourceful when keeping! :)

I have kept a few times for my team ...its odd because i am the opening bowler as well! It all started out of nowhere when our keeper got injured. Turned out i was pretty good at it and took my first catch on that day behind the stumps as well.

I am not a huge fan of coaching at an early stage. Just do what you think is comfortable and work, then get a coach to tidy the edges up. if the result you are after is 5 than it doesnt matter if its 3+2 1+4 or 6-1 :)

I have yet to drop a chance behind the stump :D touch wood :D

usually easy to tell if keeper has knocked the bails off.

if its the ball the bails most likely will be behind the stumps if its keeper usually in front

When keeping - if you have a great jumper on, it doesn't matter if you can't catch the ball:

Anyone got tips for edges standing up to seamers and spinners? Only thing bar the katchet I've seen is someone batting with a kwik cricket stump.
