Fluidity is gained by not thinking as much as it seems may be wrong that you are thinking bat here front foot here back foot here etc needs to be natural then will become fluid

Hitting through the ball is just having the confidence to go full throttle at a shot rather than half hearted

I'll start with the stance. Slightly bend the knees more so you're back is straight and feel comfortable in your stance, which can be shoulder width apart. A rhythmical backswing could probably start from just below the hips, raise to a suitable level and play your stroke from there.

I think the main thing is to be comfortable with whatever you do, as there are some un-natural movements in cricket. You have a good fundamental technique, just minor things you can work on to improve.

Hya mate, have you thought about having a trigger movement of some sort?

It just seems that with you batting so far outside leg, that your maybe defending the balls that you could be looking to work away on the legside? It might just be the camera angle though.

Also, with batting so far outside leg it doesn't allow a great amount of strokeplay outside the off stump, which means you could miss out again, and also you might find yourself driving through the covers off middle stick, which can be very risky!!

May i suggest starting with either a leg guard, or taking two, and getting your feet moving across to middle as your trigger movement, this may stop your foot being planted so early, allowing more shots to come into the equation?
I used to plant my foot, and just a small trigger movement to get me moving more, and a lot of practice soon sorted me out and i feel a lot more comfortable at the crease!

Like i said it could just be the camera angle or something! But hope this helps!

trigger movements if there not a natural way do not start with them just bat on middle stump mate or two.

Just seen you get bowled when you left it, that could be because you don't have an idea where your off stick is, which could be to do with your stance and where you stand as well foot movement!

Sorry if im being picky, just trying to help mate as you strike the ball well!

That was because I was unknowingly standing a foot outside off ;)

i like your technique, its very simple bat comes down very straight and you time the ball well, it can be difficult not knowing where your standing in the nets....

i dont think youd have left that one if you were batting on your correct guard

the truth is most of the youtube video on here no disprespect most seem to be acting to look technically good for the camera
instead of playing your natural game..

look at a few of the videos they all look staged with poor balance but a high top elbow...

Not knocking anybody as a coach the last thing you say should be positive so

i have seen your cover drive in the video a thing of beauty mate

I find it alryt batting it nets in regards to getting the correct guard? Surely you can look back before every ball and check your batting in line with the stump you have selected as your guard?

I know it can be hard to mark it, but you can still arrange your feet in line with the stump your batting on?

Looks good to me Joe. Some very nice shots in there. Only thing i would say is try to be a bit lighter on your feet, sometime you look a little flat footed, try a be more on your toes. Other thing I noticed it your first movement is with your front foot and you back foot hardly moves. Try going back and across as your trigger movement. This will not only get your more in line but will also make you lighter on your feet.

Hope that makes sense ? Looks good though and these are only minor points to work on. How old are you Joe ?

I used to press on my front foot, I'll try the back and across one and see how I get in.  17 Kieron.

Very good for 17 Joe. It may not work for you Joe, but most players go back and across. Worth trying now in the nets.

Yeah watching it back now every shot I have similar (no) movement no matter where the ball pitches, I use my hands a lot more than I thought I did.

Hi Colesy, hitting through the ball!!! You have the eye to hand coordination to  get bat on ball and you pick the line and length up ok from watching the video, and what i have seen the top coach at the cricket centre where i work do is just set the bowling machine up and get the player to just hit through the ball when playing their strokes. Most of the good batsmen finish with their bat over their head with the end of the handle pointing in the direction the ball has just gone gone. It takes a while and the stumps will get clattered a few times but once you get it mastered it will be second nature. Yeah it sounds easier than it is but lets be honest you have good technique and no glaring faults just do what works for you and find your own game and it will all fall into place.
