Knocking in. By Hand or machine?

Afternoon chaps, just having a thought on what people preferr or suggest when they get a new bat. I usually hand prepare which does take a long time for me
Seen as I have little free time and can be quite irritating for family etc. I've never had a bat knocked in by machine before and wondered what are peoples opinions and experiences of this service.

Always get mine knocked in if at all possible as hate knocking in bats and so does the wife

Have you had them done by hand or machine in the past? If machined what were they like

I have had a load of bats knocked in by CJI crickets knocking in machine and I have never had any issues. I have found the bats are fine to use after being knocked in. I prefer round edges on my bats which no machine does, but I would not hesitate in putting a brand new bat on a machine to knock in.

Honestly don't know I think by hand but just ask them to be knocked in

Yeah I've seen that. You could round the edges off by hand after though. I know I'm
Not going to have time to do it myself anymore so just wanted to see what thoughts were after the machined service. Watched clips on YouTube and looks ok

the machine i have seen are good but for some reason i think i get more satisfaction knocking in myself and cheeper

the knocking in machine at chase and fordham are good i think but they cost so i do it myself

I too have heard good things about Fordhams knocking in machine..but didn't the one at Chase nearly ruin one of Mike's bats? :(
I used to get bats knocked in by hand, but I try to do mates' ones myself for a small fee now, though all of my bats I have now were bought knocked-in.
Interesting topic though Liam, sure many different opinions and experiences will be brought to light here :)

well it may have done but there are quite a few happy customers Johan who use and swear by it many use it i do not.

I have used it before and it was good but as i have said i would prefer to do the work myself with my trusty Greg Chapell Cricket Centre Mallet.

Fordhams is more of a press whilst whilst Chase's one is a form of mallet.
