It's been a couple of weeks since Davies went public with the fact he is gay, not seen a thread on the topic. Personally I say fair play to him, gonna get some banter from the oppo though!!! what does everyone think of the subject??? society seems ready but is the sports world?

I've unlocked this as it is a subject worth discussing in a mature manner, should anyone feel the need to preach or be stupid then I'll be happy to ban them and lock if forced to.

I think it is a good, honest and brave move by him to come out, I see no need to hide his sexuality from his team mates or supporters, it has no impact on his game so best to be open about. I wonder if it may have affected his game in the past in any way and if this unburdening might improve him form enough to bring him back into the England frame again.

actually I think it will have a positive effect as he wont have the threat of a red top "sting" coming his way. This way he was in control

It seems positive for sure. But if he ever plays against the Aussies, then what are the odds that they will sledge his 'preferences' in an attempt to throw his concentration when he comes out to bat?

I think at his level it will be accepted fairly well as it should be however at club level etc etc i just don't think the same level of acceptance is around but i guess its progression and the more sportsmen or sportswomen that come out the better it will be.

I used to play hockey with a gay bloke did not bother me in the slightest plus lots of curious women in ladies hockey I found when I coached it
