Best non-spiked boots
« on: March 08, 2011, 12:23:02 AM »

After the best pair of non-spiked shoes I can get, looking at Asics or Adidas. Anyone got an idea?

Thanks

Will

I know you said Adidas or Asics but I had some Puma Iridiums which were reasonably priced, comfortable and light. Worth a look.

Not thought of them mate, will have a look

Do Adidas do the better 'pimpled' trainers then? Going to playing on astro now and again this season so need some decent footwear for batting and keeping

if you are playing on astro, don't go for the pimpled trainers. go for something like the asics gel hardwicket or adidas twenty2yds all rounder. the puma ballistic rubbers are also good.

Think the Adidas are a good shout mate, seem to fit the bill perfectly. Would be good for indoor as well I guess?

Still not sure what spikes to get this season. I do like the new Advance 3's but was looking at the Gel Gully 2 as well. Too many to choose from

Currently tossing up between these 2 now, being ordered in the morning.

I know the Adidas are very good but does anyone know much about these Asics Gel Trigger 5

http://www.owzat-cricket.co.uk/acatalog/2011_Asics_Gel_Trigger_5-cricket_shoes.html

Are these going to be suitable for astro or are they more of an indoor boot? The Adidas look as if they have a better grip

Any suggestions?

I would go for for the adidas boots out of those two as the astro type studs will offer better grip. Especially in English conditions where it can be a bit slippy on top.

However Ive just put some rubber spikes (like you usually get on the heels of half spikes boots) on my old adidas boots and that's what im going to use for astro tracks.

Well seeing as all our home games this year are going to be played on astro, I have got some Asics Gel Gully 2's for away games etc.

Think I will try and find some Adidas ones, last years are cheaper by the looks of it. Cheers Matt

You have an artificial pitch as your main wicket no way

haha yes mate, moved to a new ground and the square is not ready yet. Needs to be dug up and re-laid etc. The astro is going down for a year to be used, but then we will be on grass the following year. Got to do it properly

I am not going to complain though, keeping and batting on that will be a delight for the averages this year ;)
