Newbery Pro bat

Hi Guys
a few years ago, I was at the chalet, just after the twenty20 worldcup.
They had just made bats for some of the pro's (The guy told me that Chris Gayle and Tendulkar, was some of them) and had 10 ekstra pro bats, wich they where selling out of. The blank bats, stood in there own tre box with a sign on it, "Pro bats - Dont touch with out asking - 350£"
Has anyone been at the chalet lately or seen the same sort of bats ? Im not after a custom made bat, I want THAT! kind of bat.

Yes I saw these when I was hand picking mine(4-5 weeks ago). They are being sold for £300+.

Because they are all pre made and the "Pro" refers to the grade of willow.

the 'pro' is higher than the sps? my understanding was sps stood for sponsored players selection or something along those lines?

I was led to believe that all these " pro" bats are made to the same design and pretty much come in around 2 lb 9 as that is what they find the pros go for

So you are saying that your UZI, is the same as the Pro bats?
Because Then it must be stupid, to take the bat from the "Pro bat - 350£" box, instead of buying one of the 5-6 different shaped SPS bats... It should be possible to find one, that fits your requirement.

wish people wud stop using the world "pro bat"

a pro's bat is just a bat! we can buy any bit of wood just as good as they get....

Sells bats thought doesn't it! I definately don't get the obsession though.

I'd far rather have an ok bat in a shape that suits me than a sachin bat (even one ment for him!), or one for some average county player that didn't suit me.

I guess when buying online and you can't have a wave and a knock up with a bat then people are more likely to be swayed by being told a bat was meant for or belonged to a 'pro'.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the best players get the cream of the crop cleft wise, but I can't really see that bat companies are really going to give away top top bats to county second teamers etc, can't see how that makes financial sense.

Chris Gayle uses a 3.2 so would he still have a Pro Bat?

Just bear in mind that a brand can call any bat anything they want as they are in the business of selling bats....

I have no idea whether it was made for a Pro, or what it really is. It's a big, pretty heavy bat with a performance laminuate job and a C6+ handle. It's totally not allowed under the current rules and it doesn't have any Uzi profile, but it has Uzi SPS stickers, so I call it my Uzi... I have no idea whether it was made for a pro or not, but I don't refer to it as a pro bat, as it is not a bat that has previously been used in anger by a pro. It was taken out of the "Pro" bin at the Chalet. That's all.

It is simply a very nice hunk of willow that I can hit the ball a long way with!
