Loan a bat
« on: March 13, 2011, 01:02:58 AM »

As a fairly close knit community here on the forum and having had a good 8 pints of Stella iv come up with the scheme of loan a bat.

As most of us have bats of the forum we will seldom use and there seem to be others who would benefit from the loam of a bat for a nominal fee?? How about a 50% deposit on the price of the bat in exchange for use of it? If all goes well then another 50% maybe paid or return of product if not satified??

Just throwing it out there?

Think there would be disagreements on the condition of the bat when it is returned but it is quite a good idea, just think it wouldn't work unless the 2 people know each other reasonably well.

Admittedly there may need a few details ironing out from the more sober types but if u have a bay colleting dust surely it would make more sense to have it on loan to someone u know and have a relationship with than collecting dust in a cupboard?

Think it could possibly work, or a loan to buy scheme.

I think this is a good idea....

I think there should be some commitment made that if the person breaks the bat then the full amount should be paid if the bat breaks whilst on loan....

Therefore I wouldn't recommend someone borrowing a bat on it's last legs... Unless the owner accepts it's likely to break and isn't too bothrered!

Tom how much commission will u be getting per bat?

Very good idea, shame I've got nothing to loan out although there are lots of brands I'd love to try/ own.

I have loaned a few bats out purely on a try it and see what there like basis.

I must admit there only a small handful i would loan a bat to and the loan to buy scheme i do not like because of the arguments it causes.

Like your sentiments Tom but wait till the first bat to be flogged and the loanee send it back broken and battered and say it not for him..

Private agreements are best i think

Great idea in theory, difficult to administer in reality.

Can never knock an idea. My take on it:-

1. Max bat value of £50 - ie. net bat / few cracks etc / loaner waives additional cost if more expensive
2. Rather than loan bats individually by post, agree to loan a bat for CBF net days? - ie. a 2/3 hour session where bats can be swapped and kept an eye on.

If you want to take the risk of loaning loan,, expect not to get your bat back in the condition you lent it out to and job is a good un.

Depends i loan so others can experiance a bat before they buy one i never sell the bat i loan out and i have done it a few times.

Depends if the loan is for that reason or just so people can make money

If there looking to sell then sell it on a buy or return basis and do not call it a loan..

SIMPLE

To do the loan of a bat both of you need to be grown up about things

I could see World War 3 breaking out on the forum
