Taping the underside of the visor
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:53:34 PM »

I've seen quite a few players in international cricket with what looks like masking tape (certainly some sort of white tape) on the underside of the helmet visor, anyone know why this is. I'm sure one of my clubs old Pro's used to do this too.

Would imagine its to do with sun reflection/glare or something similar.

i think its to attract light into the visor area to improve vision.

I suspect that it's something to do with reflection of light, but I'm not enitrely sure how increasing he amount of light under the visor will improve your vision down the pitch...

It's mainly done on the albion lids, so any chance it's just to stop the fabric coming apart like ive seen happen before

Ayrtek, always a step ahead... while internationals using 'other' brands have to resort to diy with masking tape!

Yes mate. Has the gent had one lacquered? The swine :)
Jon- whats up fella? The tape and light B.S getting you down? It sounds like absolute trash IMO. Seen bandage tape used as well but god knows why they do it.
