Salix Refurb
« on: March 17, 2011, 04:06:27 PM »

Has anyone had a salix refurb one of their own bats? How do you send it off and do you pay for the postage both ways or just one (the other being covered in their fee).

just bought myself a "pre-loved" Salix praestantia and after getting it completely refurbed i/e stickers removed, sanded, polished and re stickered.

thanks, Ryan

Generally, you'll pay to send it then the fee you get charged at the end will include the return postage, but that won't be included in the quote for the refurb.

I had a Pod 1 grade one refurbed by them. the toe was in a right state (the willow had started to lift and was cracked) and it had no stickers as the previous owner had removed them. I asked for a full refurb and toe repair which cost me £42.50 including courier return and got it back looking like new. They even replaced the grip! They do a very good refurb.

I have some pictures of it somewhere post-refurb. I'll put them up if I can find them. Unfortunately I don't have any of it before it went.

Here are the pictures after the full refurb. Grip and stickers replaced, anti-scuff fitted and toe repaired.

Looks like they did a nice job. How did you find your salix? Neva had one before...

I bought it second hand and the person before me had it for a couple of seasons so was well used when I got it. It was and still is very good although I don't think it will make the end of this coming season. It is one of the best balanced bats I have had and picks up very well. It is probably the first bat I have had where pretty much the whole of the lower half of the bat responds well (except the toe!). They are finished superbly and you rarely if ever see a bad one as they are very, very strict about performance and looks with their grading.

They are a lot of money to buy new but they are things of beauty. I love the shape and feel of mine - the middle feels so 'soft' yet the ball flies off it. I'm not too keen on the stickers on the 2011 range but then stickers don't score you runs!

Thanks!

I'll send him a PM with some pictures of the damage and see what can be done.
