Which pads/gloves?
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:18:29 PM »

Now I know this sounds particularly sad, but I have a rather odd question to ask. Which would you recommend; getting GN gloves to match my pads (the purpose of the exercise is so that I match  :) ) or, get Kookaburra pads to match my gloves?
Also was considering Redback softs, does anyone have any experience/views on these?
Cheers

Don't be so hung up on matching! I would imagine buying new gloves to match will cost you less then buying new pads, but if you're considering Redback softs anyway, why not just buy a new set of everything?

I guess it depends on what pads and gloves you currently have.

I think I'm going to go for all SG gear, their stuff looks top. The Test pads and Hi-Lite gloves.

Their pads are quite hard to find though. Not one company I know of has the entire range on display. The SS website itself doesn't show any soft goods whatsoever.

You can write to them and they will send you pictures

info@sscricket.com

they respond quite well to emails. Or call and talk. The persons I speak to are Jatin Sareen (Owner) and Shadab Khan.

The soft goods are manufactures in a different factory headed by Jatin's Uncle (father's younger brother).

I wanted a speacial pair of gloves (which Gautam Gambhir used in the last test match) but their factory/capacities are booked till July 2009.

You can try writing to Asad and ask him to arrange the pads

I'm after a foam pad with a more traditional look. Along the lines of the SG hilite perhaps. I've thought of getting some of the Aus Kook Beast pads or perhaps the GN xxx. Out of interest Tom, why the test pads over other SG models?

I have GN Powerbow pads and gloves, and so long as you don't have the same bat, I think it is fine (as I did last season XD)

I chose them because they were comfy and traditional though.

Not sure why, just like the look of the Test pads. Although will probably try to look at them all, it's between the Hi-Lite and Test for pads.
