Sachins Latest Bat Profile
« on: March 30, 2011, 10:31:00 AM »

Just seen Sachin changing his bat after the Powerplay to a heavier bat.The profile looks incredible thick at the toe and doesnt look like it would pick up well. The lighter bat was massive as well with little or no concaving.

Which present batmaker/brand does a bat similar to Sachins latest profile? With such a bottom heavy profile it would need to be a really special piece of willow to pick up well.

I think he uses the lighter bat for the quicker bowlers while the ball is new and then reverts to a bigger willow to clear the boundaries against the spinners mid-innings.

I dont know if this is it, but this bat looks massive. Check out the size of the edges and shoulder!

That's ridiculous

Also find it good to know he likes to give his own bats a whack with a mallet!

gone for an RNS this time

what i like about this pic http://www.gettyimages.com.au/detail/110958928 is not just the technique... eyes leading the feet to the pitch of the ball, nice balanced position with gentle grip on the bottom hand... but the complete railway sleeper behind the stumps!

Surely the one behind the stumps must be a heavier weight made as a training aid.
You couldnt wield that in a match.

Which brand does Sachins bat most resemble as I havent seen a similar profile?
Perhaps B52 from Newbery but it appears slightly different.

Buzz - After reading your 'book' on holiday (yes I printed it out, got me through the hard days by the pool) I had a net last night and decided to keep as still as possible and not trigger across...

Walloped everything that came near me and had the best net of the year, so I owe you one mate!

The profile looks very Hawk G10.
These are around 3lb but pick up well. The bat behind the stumps is about the same size as a G10. In the flesh they are massive.

The G10 is enormous Roco. They are made from larger clefts and start at around 3lb plus.
I have seen a few down at Hawk in various stages of being made and there is alot of wood in one of these but still manage to pick up pretty well.
It's definately a bat I would like in my arsenal!

Tendulkar uses the same weight bats in nets but doesn't use net bats in matches

Hmmm 3lb+ is a little heavy I'm sure they could make me one around 2lb13/14 if they wanted to
