To an extent yes. But the bigger problem is that limited overs cricket is still played with a traditional mind set. Need likes of Dilshan, Sehwag, Afridi's to pepper-up things..... take chances, think abnormally

Plus need one more good spinner - one of these 3 have to be groomed fast - Adil Rashid/ Monty, Samit..... I like Samit, he can bat and bowl, just need to get him into a slimming course..... weight should not be a disqualification......

We rarely produce a player like that due to conditions in England with the tracks swinging and seaming it's hard to go at the ball all the while so openers are taught to be cautious when they are young where as in India Sri Lanka where dilshan etc grew up pitches are flatter so they learn the skills of going at the bowling early from a young age

We do not have many players who rotate the strike either and when a class spinner comes on we freeze.

England need to give someone 20-30 games so have a try at becoming established as an aggressive opener. No-ones gonna score a ton every innings. But in 30 games 4-6 solid contributions would identify someone.

I agree but sometimes you have to take a risk. Don't worry about conditions, back the player no matter what.

Look at India and SL. Sehwag and Dilshan where middle order players almost forced into opening and it has paid rich dividends. In Sehwag case, he still claims to be a middle order player!!
