What would you guys say the best pads are? Im after some new'uns and am wondering what you guys recon? They need to be light but also not incredibly expensive, and obviously, protective-y. In order of importance..
1) Light
2) Inexpensive
3) Protective

Any suggestions?

I've got some Puma Iridium 5000's from last year, picked up a pair on here for a decent price. They're light, very protective and if you can get a decent deal on these you can find them cheap. Also the straps on them aren't long which is a problem ive had with some pads in the past, so I don't have to wear them loose or double back the straps.

However I also owned some Hawk Xbow pads http://www.hawkcricket.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=152&category=8. These pads are very light, lighter than the puma 5000's however they are ambi, so you don't get much protection on the inside of your pads. They're very cheap and well worth the money.

I have heard good things about Iridium pads. They have only the two straps am i correct? The halk pads do look nice aswell but i think ill just have to drop into Meulemans (cricket shop) next time im in perth! Im not realy in any rush to get new ones so may just look around!

However I would like to try some on with 2 straps to see if they give decent support as I like my pads to feel quite tight.


Yeah, it's always best to go and try some pads on and see what you find comfortable, light and protective as we're all different sizes everyone finds different things better than others.

So true. I also like my pads tite and always have that overhang stuff.. well the pads my mate has have two straps! There ether 4000s or 5000s and are nice! With two straps, there in a differant place right?

As for http://onlinestockist.com/ well.. I have used them before and although the bat i got is great, i mostlikley will not be going back there. The pads i am using atm are actualy MRF and are crazy light! So im not agenst asian brands but yeah, would rather buy not from India.

I'm a big fan of Puma pads, got a pair of Iridium 4000 (I think! the ones Kieswetter wore at the world 20/20?) and they fit well and are very light. Only drawback is that the padding on the inside is a little bulky. You want to make sure whatever pads you get actually fit you properly. From what little experience I have all pads fit slightly differently so find a maker who's pads fit well then look for the lightest in the range....Puma are nice as are Redback and Sunridges (which are great value)

Highly recommend the SS style pads (though I may be selling my SS Pads - due to lack of need...)

I would look at SS and BAS. SS and BAS  make softs for a lot of bigger brands.

those chase pads are nice, fit smashingly and the use they've had have softened them up!

I know, doubt I'll need those SS pads you sold to me ages ago. The question is whether to keep them and wait for 2012, or to sell them and get some extra cash now.

Not right now Liam, as they are at my Club in the Changing Rooms due to lack of space at home. They are Chase 175 pads mate. When I venture down to the club on Sunday, I'll try to remember to bring my Camera and take some pics for you!
