the best way to become a member of the MCC is as a Playing member, but these days you have to be minor counties standard or better as a batter or a quick bowler at a good club.

the Egg and Bacon lid is a brilliant idea - have you spoken to the guys at the MCC shop (possibly different to the Lords shop, I am not sure) The members will love them, especially if they are terribly "exclusive"...

for the waiting list there is something like a 20 year wait for full membership, but you typically can be an associate member after 5 or so years so you can come to the ground most of the year, wear the club colours (yes that means the pyjama's too) apart from certain days.

given the catchment area for Fordhams, putting my feelings on the place aside, you should try to get your lids in there as they have loads of wealthy parents/players who go in there.

For me Romida is significantly better than Fodhams...

Online:
Owzat
Romida
VKS
Cricket supplies
Pro4Sport

Stores:
Morrant
Peak Sports

If you are looking in Cheshire then there are only Peak Sports (now part of Monkhouse) and Barrington Sports. Barrington is not big in cricket (as they are in hockey) but they operate in virtual monoploy as their nearest competitor is Peak Sports. Also Barrington Sports is in a area where money seems to be free flowing and some of the best private schools like Kings School. So you expensive helmets may get a few buyers here.

Peak Sports enjoys loyalty of clubs based in and around Stockport

yeah heard that membership has a fairly lengthy waiting list and u need to get picked for the rep games to get ur 5 games under ur belt etc.

Honorary membership it will have to be then :) perhaps when one of them keeps their monocle intact when fending off a beamer in the helmet the letter will hit the doormat ;)

all advice being noted down thanks boys keep em coming!

http://www.nickhaynesonline.co.uk/

Pretty much the only online dealer in the s. midlands.

Only a very small shop though, nice chap who runs it. Possibly Boundary Sports in Birmingham however the products in there aren't great.

Tom, maybe add a poll to this topic so you can get results that's easy to monitor

I've travelled upto Owzat a few times over the last few weeks and it's an impressive shop. Nice people who run it and they seemed to have a lot of 2011 stock in before many other shops. They replied to my emails quickly and they have a good knowledge of Cricket gear.

Justsport is the only real retailer in the north east of note. Massive catchment area.

I would definitely go with Mapperly sports as I have ordered multiple bats from them atleast 13 recently. All of them turned out amazing plus their customer service was exceptional.
