ECb ruling
« on: April 06, 2011, 04:05:19 PM »

The nets are being blocked off at my club, so you can only bat at training. I'm glad I have my own net at my house, because otherwise how am I meant to practice, what a joke. Training at the club isn't even by proper coaches, so the junior section will not improve

Apparently the ECB have imposed something because someone lad got
Knocked out by a ball, because they werent being supervised, so clubs have to put something to stop people using the nets

Not sure we block our nets so only used by members, also club insurance only covers members so only members can come to practice

I don't think this is a new ruling - it's been about for ages.

We don't physically block our nets off, but there are some house rules posted by them saying that under 18's must not net unsupervised - it's a health and safety thing

I think it's Ludacris that us teenagers who want to practice are being stopped, it's a joke

Nanny state rubbish. People, even kids, should take responsibility for themselves. S** t happens. Get over it.

Exactly, if I get hit by my mates bowling, he hits a ball at me, mine and his faults, this kinda stuff happens, health and safety if the biggest load of crap ever, when does common sense ever come into play

Too many health and safety rules. People should not be mucking around in, or around a cricket net as it's bloody dangerous. That person getting hit was their carer's fault IMO - duty of care isn't yours when you're netting. Or there should be signs. Lucky that you have a net at home though Ryan :)

It is a bit, and my club wonder why the junior sections getting worse, this isn't exactly going to entice people to play is it?

Well what are the powers that be meant to do? They've got no option.
For all this 'take responsibility for yourself' (No Swearing Please) that people trot out, the facts remain that we live in an escalating blame culture.
Player A creams a half volley, player B ducks out the way on his follow through, player C is struck on the head.
100% if that was your son you would be after the club for all their worth.
