GN Powerbow PP - Needs repair/refurb
« on: April 10, 2011, 01:19:17 PM »

My mate gave me his bat as he doesn't play anymore and he originally got it from Steven Davies a couple of years ago for free as he's a good mate of his. It's a GN Powerbow Pro Performance 2'11 1/2 with two grips on and it feels like a feather in the hands, picked up very nicely.

However the bat is damaged as there was a fairly big crack in the toe, I don't know exactly what has happened with the bat or how it's been 'fixed', it looks to me as whoever repaired the bat has glued the crack together and left it in a clamp for a couple of days.

I would like some advice on what to do with this bat, it could really do with a refurb but I was wondering if anyone would be able to fix this crack a bit better.

Also there is a slight crack near the shoulder of the bat which may need looking at.

Is the crack horizontal on the bottom? I've got a GN nitro pp which has gone like that

I didn't realise it had gone badly untill I ripped the toe guard off. I glued it up the other day, I'll stick a pic up later

It may be worth sending to GN, they will almost certainly bandage up the toe and soak in glue.

Not myself personally, played against him quite a few times when we were growing up and I know him through friends that went to school with him.

How much would it cost for a repair/refurb at GN?

GN quoted me about £40 for a full refurb on that one a few months back.

Did you ring them up and speak to them directly or send them an email with pictures?

Emailed them the pictures and they responded quickly. Couldnt justify it on a mates bat that I'll have to give back one day!

Yeah, I don't know whether I'd do it for £40. As I got the bat for free so I may just tape it up a bit and add some shoe goo and then see how long it lasts.

yeah indeed, it probably would come back looking very nice - however with the crack it could just need one yorker and it's gone again which would mean £40 down the drain.
