Not brilliant to be honest today Dave, need to sort some new shoes out as my ankle is aching like mad now! You played any games so far?

Woah,

I had one (No Swearing Please) start to my season. Scored the dirtiest 12 you've ever seen, couldn't  pick up the length at all, then got bowled for the first time in ages. The oppo then knocked off the runs with 10 overs to spare, and are fielding was a shambles.

Friendly match, got a 6 ball duck. Well, I say that, but I got an outside edge to slip, and the keeper reckons it didn't carry, the slip was only a young lad so he sort of claimed it, and the 2 umpires gave it after consulting. Personally I think it dropped short, but oh well! Lost as well, but not competitive so not important in the grand scheme of things!

Used my Amplus on Saturday and it goes like a train. Had a very brief stay at the wicket as we were chasing a modest 130. i lasted only 9 balls. Hit 6 consecutive boundaries - one over mid-off (not timed as it came off just under the stickers), 2 thru the covers and 3 thru extra cover..... got out trying to whack one out of the ground.

Amplus was great when I waited and timed the ball rather than slogged.....

I removed the counter balance as it was rubbish (made from a very thick rubber grip with almost half a roll of grip tape on it). It feels much better with 2 full grips (1.5 ounce each) rather than one full and one half grip and the crap counter balance......might as well go for a 2.13 harlequin

Played in a great game today. They chased our 255-7 down in the last over.
Personally didn't do fantastically, only got 11 before a shorter ball beat me for pace and I top edged one to the keeper... :(
But still a good game to play in!

We dropped one guy eight times and allowed him to make 96 yesterday. Thankfully we were spared him getting a ton when he managed to drill the last ball of the innings straight to silly mid on. Then I was batted down at seven, which would normally annoy me but I enjoyed watching us comfortably chase down a total for once. Got to score the winning runs at least :)

hi guys :)

i'm new here - found the forum while searching for info on custom bat makers. i couldn't find an "introductions" thread so i thought i'd put mine in here.

i'm 25, playing for a team in south wales. i'm actually a semi-pro football goalkeeper and only play cricket for enjoyment, but i'm very competitive and want to improve. i'm 3rd XI captain for my team, open the batting and keep wicket which at 6'2 is quite unusual! last season i led the whole club in fielding dismissals taking 26 catches, a run out and a handful of stumpings.

on sunday i was asked to keep wicket for the 1st XI in a pre-season memorial game against a team who play in the Swalec South Wales Premier. i didn't get to bat as i was due in at 10, but i was very tidy behing the stumps. we had 2 excellent run outs and i stumped their Minor Counties cap batsman off our skipper! went on to win by 6 runs, great feeling.

i won't expect to play in the 1sts this season unless their normal keeper is unavailable, but there are rumours that i'll be asked to keep for the 2nds which gives me a bit of a dilemma as it would have been my first full season as 3rd team captain and i'm usually one of the top run scorers in my team!

anyway sorry for the lengthy post :D

2nd game of the season for us. we won the toss batted first and got 287/7 in 40 overs. got 56 before being caught at a deepish mid off. they started brilliantly and were 177/1 in 17 overs. then we got the 2 set batsmen out and they were all out for 248 in 35.4 overs.
