we always bat first if possible. Last year the oppos started to catch wind and batted first to avoid having 350+ spanked up against them. Got so bad that one team would've gone home if we won the toss! Had 3 weeks in a row where we were in the bar by 4pm and by the 4th week we were desperate to bat first! We are lucky that our average bar stay is 4 hours+ :-)

This year, we have a midweek league against very strong sides in higher leagues than the Wetherby and hope that keeps people motivated.

Last year we played the eventual runners up in one League evening comp and another strong side on a sunday. This year we want a bit of a cup run but getting our best guys 2 days in a row is difficult.

Had a very bad first game of the season today we played Brentwood who won the prem last season, we won the toss n chose to stick them in, 410 runs later off 40 overs! It was then my turn to bat I opened today and was well up for it.. I left about 10 decent length balls That fizzed through at shoulder height, I then got one I thought I could get off the mark with and nicked it through to the keeper... We ended up with 180 odd... Not the best of starts.....

Had a decent game today!
Came in at 6 with the rate pretty slow, managed to get a run a ball 39 before running myself out going for a second.
Unfortunately huge graze/gash on my elbow from when I dived in earlier in the knock to save my wicket haha
Some decent shots in there, 4 4s one a one-bounce effort straight down the ground!
Decent day, won by 90 runs so not bad at all!

Played a club game today, a mix of firsts, seconds and a few thirds. The first side hit 196, I bowled 5-1-20-1, with way too many wides....

In reply I opened the batting and hit a 34 ball 50 before retiring. 6 fours and 2 sixes (both over point!) Enjoyed starting the season on a positive for the first time ever! And was nice to take some runs off some 1st team bowlers

I got 4, then a moderately decent ball that rattled my off stump. To make matters worse our captain decided to bowl first in the baking heat. Our captain opened the bowling as always, continuing to not present the seam or swing it.

Sounds like us, our skip won the toss and bowl. We've got 3 seamers, and one of them is poor at best, he opened the bowling. 5-0-21-0, about 12 of those were in extras. Me and the other spinner had to do the business as usual, 25-9-57-6 between the 2 of us!
