We lost today, skittled for 145. I managed a slow 21 before being c&b at the second attempt.

I bowled 7-0-32-2 aswell so not a great day. Teas were awesome (coffee cake) :)

Saw your scorecard Canners, well done mate, good win and a good knock. Hope some of my 'hints' made an influence  ;) Did 'Wenty' manage to bowl any bouncers? lol

Although i'm still injured, my team got 315-9 from 50 overs
Oppos all out for 180 from 36 overs.

Of course mate, thats another beer i owe you i guess lol....

Wenty was pretty military tbh, although he did get one to nip back in and hit me in the abs.... which tickled a bit ;)

They did have a quality leggy tho

Today was a complete shambles, especially bad for me as we got thrashed by my old club. We basically sacrificed any chance of winning our 1s game by "mixing the teams up in order to ensure a chance of two victories not one" so we had 3 proper batsmen, 2/3 proper bowlers, 3 U14s and 3 "allrounders" ie, not very good at batting or bowling. And this was to take on a team with a couple of county/ex-county lads.
Oppo scored 299for?9. Their ex-county 17yr old hit a 100 off 43 balls (50 in 19) at number 3 coming in a few overs in.
I opened the batting with our 1st team number 3/opening bowler and I got out on 4, caught behind off a good ball, but i shouldn't have played the shot i did - catch was very good though, diving low to his right. Opener got 60odd, we ended on 180ish all out having been out of contention 2 wickets down.
And our tea was absolutely pathetic, we have two largeish tables next to each other which are normally full up, today 2/3rds ofm one was full - thanks to our clueless captain who did the same b****y thing two weeks ago after p*****g about on the square with his son rather than opening up the club and starting to set up when he arrived!  >:(
I'm so happy that im not playing sunday cricket the next few weeks  :D
Plus im battered and bruised after diving around on the practically concrete outfield, had to pull a ball of grass out of my elbow after cutting it open :/

Forgot to add todays game- Bowled first, oppo scored 163 all out off 40 overs. We lost wickets regularly and were 30-3 at one stage. I top scored with 48 before holing out  >:( We ended up falling 10 runs short.....

We suffered a rare defeat today in the cup. Played Garforth PC from Wetherby Div1 (we are in 5) with only 6 of our saturday team plus a few weaker sunday guys, and lost by 7 wickets. We got a creditable 179-9 in 40 overs and they did it for 3 down in 34. Having not had a proper bat all season I played pretty fluently against some decent bowling (for a change) for 18 until I played on to a nothing ball. Spent most of the time in the field cursing some bizarre captaincy on our part that made life a whole lot easier for the oppo. Skipper taking one lad off bowling well only, to get himself on and bowl 4 overs of absolute tripe which turned a small chance of a win into no chance, for example :-(

Today I hit a 140 metre six while using my mate's instinct. Off the back foot, holding the bat upside down and with one eye closed, into a headwind of 72.3mph.

I believe it is the shortest 6 ever recorded using an instinct bat :D

Think you've dragged the life out of that joke now... :|

On another note, I got 21 today, then gave it away trying to push the rate as we had a colt batting with me which made me the senior player lol :)
Hit a big 6 into the hedge at Botany on the back pitch though, decent shot, and nearly nailed our umpire with a straight drive 4 :D
Kept as well, kept to some sharp sharp bowling on a Sunday surprisingly, only 8 byes :) - A catch and a stumping but I was fuming when their number 3 edged a colt straight into my hands and didn't walk >:( Ridiculous.
Quite a good day all in all :)

Great game yesterday - scraped 155 all out on a horrid pitch that kept low. Opposition were cruising after big opening stand - needed about 30 off 20 odd overs but lost there last 9 wickets for 13 runs and we won by 6 runs! Awesome day!

My poor batting weekend continued >:(

Followed up a 6 ball 1 yesterday with a 5 ball duck today.

Got out looking to push the score in the last 5 overs to a ball I should have defended. Really frustrated with my shot choice.

Bowled 5 overs for 29 with 1 wicket... Not bad for my first bowling outing in a year. Although 25 runs came off of 2 overs. Happy for the most part with that... lots of work to do.

Lost off the last ball today, they needed 3 to win and a big swipe got them the 3.

All in all good weekend from the perspective that I had fun at the end of both games, but on a team level disappointing as lost both games.

on sunday we got them out for 160 and i took a catch :)

in reply i batted 3 and we trickled to 6-30. i battled hard to try and get us over the line but  eventually held out for 31 and when i fell, so did the chances of my side and we fell away to be all out for 98. pretty dissapointed

33 and 6-0-33-3 in this weekends match, finally getting used to playing 30 over cricket on the pitches over here.

Depends on the situation, with newer batmen I've just tried to bowl like a did back home and give it a bit of air and a rip, but once guys get set I've just packed the legside and fired it in at middle and leg, a bit boring but it seems to be working so far.

Alex,
Rather amusingly, I now have the second highest batting average for the 2nd XI, with 40 (having batted no higher than No. 8 and the worst bowling average...

I'd best brush up on how to bat properly...
